Sid Vicious was not exactly known for his bass playing abilities, but as a showman, was beyond comparison. Lemmy (from Motörhead), tried (and failed) to teach Sid to play the bass countless times. Despite a lack of technical prowess, Vicious inspired an entire generation of bassists to just pick up an instrument, and just give it a bash; Hell For Leather; Death Or Glory… And for that alone, he has to be thanked.

Rumours that Sid Vicious used a Razor Blade as a Plectrum are unsubstantiated. Luckily, Junk Male Plectrums are much kinder on the hands and easier to use. Made from premium-quality Celluloid, these picks are equally suitable for bassists and guitarists. This is because they’re Medium Gauge (0.72mm), and as such, are just stiff enough to give a good tonal attack on bass, but are equally efficient and flexible for fast, 6-string strumming. 

No gig-bag, guitar case or wallet should be without one of these Plectrums. Personally, I wear one on a chain around my neck (in case of emergencies). But then I’m a deeply fascinating and complex person...
