‘Grand Prix’: Unarguably one of John Frankenheimer’s most memorable and ground-breaking films – and definitely the best motor racing film ever made, which is a great achievement seeing as it was completed in 1966.
From the opening, tension-building titles (designed by the legendary Saul Bass), through to the unique blend of real-race footage, intertwined with scenes that were filmed at the actual race weekends throughout the Grand Prix season, this film just oozes authenticity. You can tell that the movie was produced by a company of genuine and committed petrol-heads.
The film was also jam-packed with some great performances – and some wonderful dialogue. One such golden line of script features on this T-Shirt, and was uttered by works Ferrari driver Jean-Pierre Sarti (played by Yves Montand, and effectively racing in John Surtees’ racing boots for the film): “There is no terrible way to win. There is only winning”.
This T-Shirt also features one of the most memorable racing sequences in the film (although the opening Monaco scenes, and later footage from the original long layout of Spa-Francorchamps are pretty spectacular too!). Pete Aron (played by the brilliant James Garner), driving his Nomura Racing team car over the treacherous Monza banking.
The shirt is part of our ‘Earth Positive’ range and is therefore Certified 100% organic and sustainable; and completely carbon neutral. It’s also amazingly soft and comfortable to wear, and is in a wonderful vintage-white colour (in fact, this colour is called ‘Ecru’, and is the natural colour of the raw and untreated organic cotton – so no bleaching either). Without doubt; this will be the most comfortable T-Shirt you’ve ever worn; our ‘Earth Positive’ range uses the softest and finest quality cotton available anywhere.
For a restricted time only, these T-Shirts will be available at just £40 each, a saving of £55 off the standard retail price! Bear in mind, that only 35 of these limited-edition and hand-printed garments shirts have been produced – and that’s in total – not in every size. So, they’re very rare and collectable.
Look out for a Junk Male Grand Prix blog – arriving soon! In the meantime, treat yourself to a collectable, hand-printed and limited-edition historic motor racing T-Shirt... in our opinion, one of the best retro motor racing T-Shirts you can buy, depicting the golden age of Formula 1.
