For nearly ten years, I was lucky enough to compete in Historic Motor Racing – at a strictly amateur and recreational level. I raced mainly with the fantastic HSCC (in the Derek Bell Championship), but also with European organisations, such as Acemai.
During that time, I scrapped in Formula Ford and Formula 2 Championships (aboard a 1971 Huron FP1 – chassis No. 1, and a March 742 – chassis No. 13). I raced at some of the best circuits in the world and thoroughly enjoyed every second; Spa-Francorchamps; the Championship circuits at Brands Hatch and Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Dijon, the awesome Pau street circuit and many other smaller – but just as notable venues such as Croix-En-Ternois, Mondello Park, Croft, Snetterton, etc.
During that time – as a particularly rabid and obsessive fan – I accumulated a pretty good motor racing library, consisting of some of the rarest and most difficult-to-obtain titles, that have been out of print for many years. Understandably, some of these books may sadly be too expensive for some fans, but to the person that cannot find these books anywhere else, they are quite literally priceless. I’m thinning down the collection, so some of these books really ought to find a new and appreciative home. What follows, will represent a definitive collection, mainly encompassing Formula Ford, Formula 2, Formula 1, and Formula 5000, with some driving technique books – all written by the best motor-sport authors to have committed ink to paper.
